Recommended Posts

A 50-YEAR-OLD man from Accrington has died after crashing into a roundabout following a short police chase.

The driver suffered fatal injuries after his Renault Captur hit the Ashworth Circle roundabout shortly after 9pm on Wednesday.

He was pronounced dead the scene.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

A Lancashire Constabulary spokesman said: "This collision has cost someone their life and our thoughts are with his family at this time"

"We immediately referred the incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, this is standard practice following a death after police contact."

The IPCC attended the scene overnight and have determined that it will be an independent investigation

Thoghts go out to the officer, not something you want hanging over you.

Hope not to hear the usual "if the police hadn't been pursuing him..." garbage which seems to be standard these days in these sort of incidents.
