The Undertaker + 303
I was discussing this on another police forum however it did not get many responses, so putting it here for discussion. My thoughts are the driver is clearly an annoying plonker, who is being cocky and trying to goad the officer into a stupid argument I feel the officer unfortunately does get goaded into arguing for longer than necessary. Thoughts?
Burnsy2023 2,895
I really can't be bothered to watch the whole 15 mins, but from what I have gathered, he was stopped for being on a mobile and objected to that. I tend to be very matter of fact with people like that. I also tend to figure out what I want to achieve before I go much further. If I know I saw him on his phone I'll be giving a ticket and I will have decided that early on. If I'm not sure, I keep it short and sweet, get a DL or ID, do the checks and let them leave without engaging in too much conversation. Not going to give me your name and address? Fine, you'll be arrested. Not going to accept a ticket? Fine, enjoy your summons.
Member of Public + 206
Aren't you required under the road traffic act to give your details when requested if you're driving a vehicle on a public road? Or is that no longer the case? No harassment here, just another one of those sorts who don't like the police, can tell by the language he uses, 'bacon', 'bruv' etc. Yawn. I like the officer's point about his eyes being the evidence
MerseyLLB 8,426
Should have been arrested after about 3 minutes max.
Management Chief Cheetah 6,915 Posted October 21, 2015 Management Share Posted October 21, 2015 Should have been arrested after about 3 minutes max. Agreed. I hate it when an officer decides to exercise their powers and then wholly fails to exercise their powers.
Richhamdo + 877
I am afraid I have to say I thought the officer made it a bit hard work for himself. It has to be said i am not a fan of calling members of the public mate, pal, chum,or other terms of endearment, no matter what they have been doing because I am a bit old fashioned and my main initial tutor and long time snooker partner would certainly turn over in his grave if I did so. It's always been Sir or Madam with me or maybe a Ms (that's before I knew how they liked to be called) Of course I think it's not often that people fail or refuse to provide their name and address, but have had one or two who aren't who they say they are. I've only had one young chap who wouldn't give me his details, for urinateing in full view of the taxi rank.he really dug his toes in and nothing I said would change his mind so I had to take him to the station.i told the story and end result before so I won't repeat it. I got the impression this Bobby was on a loser with this motorist after a few minutes of talking to him about using his phone. Anyway i am looking forward to seeing part two of this saga if there is one. My version just finished without any explanation when he was still dealing with the motorist,it was almost like reading a "who dunnit" from the library and then finding the last page has been torn out.
