Does anyone carry a kit bag?

I must admit I don't quite understand why forces don't have reversible kit that is HiViz on one side and black on the other: would seem to be a cheaper way of doing it surely.

Hi-Vis would be quite uncomfortable to wear on the inside I'd think?

I use the "Special Operations Backpack" from MC Products. I bought this myself for £30 from the company, but they do already supply these to certain departments within my force.

I use a 45L karrimor sf backpack. fits everything I need and can be thrown in the boot.

Also for the very rare times I might need a kit bag whilst on foot It looks a little more professional than my old blue and yellow sports bag!

I ended up buying one of these for work: http://www.sportsdirect.com/nike-brasilia-small-grip-bag-701021?colcode=70102103

They come in a couple of different sizes depending on how much you need to carry, but that one is fairly small and easy to cram in the back of a car, and still holds everything I need it to.

Just for reference, I usually carry:

-Hi-vis

-Raincoat

-Flatcap

-Weapon Tube

-Premsearch books

-Stacks of evidence bags

-Hashed together first-aid kit

-An entire box's-worth of gloves

-Just about every bit of paperwork under the sun

-Spare pair of cuffs

Sectioned Detection

For years I lugged a large kit bag about with me until a last year when it finally gave up the ghost. When I looked at the amount of rubbish I had slowly collected over time I decided to bin all but the stuff I use at least once each set of shifts.

I now have a smaller black rucksack that is easier to carry and still fits everything. At less than £25 it's a cracking little bit of kit.

I have an old laptop bag with all the most frequently used forms (mg11's, crime reports, mis-per forms, DV forms, pro-forma MG's, cannabis warning packs, sharp objects tubes, collision reports, etc...) I generally go out single crewed so chuck it in the car whenever I go out on patrol.

If I'm out with specialist team's, ops etc, my stabbie bag comes with me with all my PPE, tac-vest etc. (generally the specialist stuff is plain clothes)

Got the same bag (as do many people in my nick - can be confusing). There's a pouch on the inside which is perfect for stuffing gloves into.

I just use the bag my body armour came in, can be a pain in the backside trying to dig out whatever bit of kit (got to stuff all my winter kit into it at this time of year) I need but I'm too much of a tightarse to pay for a bag.

I have this one http://www.police-supplies.co.uk/bags/patrol-duty-tactical/prod_196.html which is great as it has loads of space in it, and they print your collar number on it for you so no getting mixed up in the station!

I notice a fair few people use their body armour bags but they do look a bit of a faff to get stuff out of of without a good route around, but as pointed out they are free :)

Collar

I've just ordered one of these which should hold the lot for when I'm out and about. Was happy with the free option of collar number printing also.

I know this is a really old topic now, but I'm just training as a Special.

Does anyone have any advice on a bag to use while on duty?

Thanks

Yep, have a look through the previous pages! Links may a bit old and not work but run a google search on the brands and models mentioned and you should find them.

I've used an older version of this bag for years and have never had any problems with it.  https://www.polimil.co.uk/bags/all-bags/police-duty-bags-and-ems-bags/5-11-patrol-ready-black.html
