A man shown being dragged along the floor by a police dog faces surgery on his leg.

Widely-circulated mobile phone footage appears to show Andy Cash, a traveller, on the floor with a police dog clamped to his leg.

Source - BBC

Not sure why the dog did not let go of his leg but seeing as no complaint was made by the travellers, surely the injuries can't be that bad.

Ouch...

Once dogs clamp on thats it, wouldnt want to be on the receiving end.

As for the comment about travellers not wanting to make complaints etc in my experience in dealing with the travelling community for various offences over the years including large scale affray etc when caught and in custody they always tend to hold their hands up and take their share of the responsibility of their behaviour/actions.

Just my experience but its a common theme I notice when in interview.

On the local news the travellers were complaining. Including an obviously traumatised boy of about 6 or 7 who said the dog was trying to pull his leg off. Others said the officers were just talking to each other and ignoring the dog.
Of course there was nothing about what led up to the dog being used.

I'm trying to feel sorry for him, it's difficult though. The dog probably just wants a snuggle buddy.

It isn't pleasant viewing to watch someone seemingly get mauled by a dog but in the absence of a complaint then I am not sure why the complaint has legs (no pun intended)?

IOPC report submitted in May, officer just charged 6 months on. None of us is in the position to know the evidence but, surely it does not take 6 months to make a decision. Had this time been taken by a Police Officer then they would have had their backside kicked.

It would appear that the Travellers camp was trespassing on the land where planning permission for houses had just been refused.

That dog need more training, clearly doesn't respond to the leave command. Handler looked more interested in other people and let the dog continue.  BUT that's on the basis of the video alone, we don't know what was going on.

Don't mess with Police dogs, at least that message is reinforced now.

The CPS regularly take a long time to make charging decisions when it comes to police officers.

And non police officers. Especially RASSO cases.

But why, or are they using a different level of proof?
