PPE Pass or Fail

I've just had my training documentation through and noticed that the PPE section is a pass or fail module.

Is this the only module that is assessed like this? How hard is it? Do most people get through okay? Presumably if you fail you get another chance but have to wait until the next course?

You mean the officer safety training I presume? If so and you want to get ahead start looking at use of force legislation

First Aid is the same (Pass/Fail).

Whether you pass/fail, its all down to you / learning style / strengths / weaknesses etc

Module 7 of the course is your Personal Safety training including CS Spray, Handcuffs and Batons. This is a pass or fail module. This will be a full weekend of theoretical and physical activity and it is highly recommended that you develop your personal fitness in order to maximise the learning and development this course provides. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns in respect of participating in physical exercise/activity.

Only advice is to pay attention, its intense and physical - but if you made it this far, I see no reason why you shouldn't pass.

Due to health/safety, if you have any injuries that stop you doing it, then I expect you might have to be re-coursed.

It's not that bad. Just listen to what's being taught and the legislation etc. You will be fine, I can't remember anyone ever failing....

Scary stuff!! :p

I am sure it will be fine, I read before that you can still fail during training but wasn't sure how strict it was and whether it was anything to worry about

Can only speak from my experience:

Everyone passed on my go;

think the only reason you could fail is either on the theory test (although most likely if you don't get required score a trainer will just help you out)

or if you're messing about.

Just listen and you'll be fine.

You don't need to at all but going to the gym or doing a bit of targeted exercises may help & may prepare you a bit for when you start proper,

I will see if I can get hold of someone who IIRC is his units OST trainer and see if they're willing to join

He's part of a specialist group so details maybe different but the broad strokes will be the same

Our OST had three assessments that were a pass/fail. Theory (legislation etc..) first aid practical & theory and a dynamic assessment of OST. Known as red man or angry man depending on your force. Like other people have said no one failed on my training unit. Obviously if your fitness is at a good level you will find the officer safety training aspect easier.

We've just had OST weekend 1 of 2. It's really intense and there is a lot to learn, but the trainers aren't there to trip you up or make you fail, they are there to help you pass. We had CapTor spray assessment today and as far as I know everyone passed (it doesn't have to be perfect, as long as you get the result you need, and they say go slowly and get it right rather than fast and get it wrong).

We have the theory assessment next weekend, this is probably the one that most trip up on as there is a lot of terms and legislation to remember. We are given several chances to pass this as we need to get 100%. We also have cuffs, baton and unarmed tactics assessment next weekend.

Jess what's the spray like, is it as bad as it sounds? I start my training next month and am looking forward to the more hands on training.

We had the spray and i have to say it isn't as bad as i was expecting, but i was expecting extreme pain.

Your eyes clamp shut, and you cry out of your eyes, nose, and mouth. You also feel disoriented.

Don't rub your eyes, take a fresh shirt, and try open your eyes so the wind can blow out the crystals,

I ended up at the top of a hill holding on to a lampost lol.

The first picture was after about 25 minutes, the second about 5 minutes.
