PCSO Patrol Boots and socks

Recommended Posts

Ygnharad

Hey folks!

I've recently been brought in after someone pulled out from PCSO recruitment and have signed my contract.

I've got uniform fitting in two weeks and have been advised to bring patrol boots. I've taken a look in store and online and all the Boots I've found all look a bit tactical, I'm willing to spend a bit more to get waterproof Boots and proper socks considering I'll be on my feet the majority of the day.

My question is, are these tacti-cool Boots suitable? Anyone know of any good, waterproof Boots that don't look like they should be fitted on someone in the bloody "regiment"?

Try on a few pairs because as you said you'll be in them for long hours at a time so try to find a shop to go to rather than buying online.  They'll also need to be black and plain.

Cheers for the response, so I'm assuming things like these are out of the question?! As I'm seeing a lot of reccomendations for Bates Boots but I can't seem to find any without those silly 'go-faster' stripes!

They should be fine.  It tends to be stitches on the toe end of the boot certain Supers don't like  as I learnt from bitter experience.

I like Altberg boots, Field and Fell being my boot of choice - but then I've had them issued.  If I had to buy my own boots, then I'd go to a store with a budget of around £150 and buy the most comfortable/grippy boots in that budget.

I only wear 5.11 socks and have done for as long as they've been available.  They're not cheap, but then decent walking-type socks aren't.  I'd budget for around £10 per pair - worth their weight in gold are a decent pair of socks in my opinion.

With that combination of boots/socks, I've rarely had cold feet, and can't think of an occasion when I've had wet feet.  And importantly I can't think of an shift when my feet have felt so sore that I couldn't wait to get my boots off.

If you spend a decent amount on boots, you'll get good boots.
