AHussain + 9
Hello. I just came back from the assessment. I did good on my written I believe but did bad on my fitness test. I was under the impression police fitness assessment was a 15 metres level 5.2 required to pass. The pass requirement was level 9.2 for men. I sadly got a 7.7 so I failed. I need to re apply but I am just contemplating giving up it is do depressing.

Reasonable Man + 1,230
Pass level is 5.4 on a 15 metre run for uk forces Al.I may be wrong but I think 5:4 is just for OST fitness ie for serving officers annual test. Recruitment requires a higher level. Sent from me using witchcraft

AHussain + 9
Which force are you applying to that wants 9.2? Police Scotland require level 9.2 under 29 for males or 1.5 miles in 12 minutes. In england the required level in some areas or all not sure is 5.

AHussain + 9
I want to let you all know this fail does not mean I am going to quit. I am more focussed I am happy, I did much better on my written tests and now I just need to increase my fitness, I had only began running 1 month ago and when I started I could only reach a level 5 on the bleep test. In a month my level went up from 5 to nearly 8 it can only get better, I have 6 months to better myself. I dont like the wait but I believe god has a better plan for me not to get religious. WindingDown 3
Please don't be offended, but if at age 24 you could only get to level 5 before training, you have a serious fitness issue. I'm over twice your age, have spent nearly 25 years working shifts, do very little fitness, am an ex smoker and can achieve 5.4 for my annual test without breaking sweat. I appreciate you've now improved your fitness, but in the event you get accepted (and I hope you do, by the way) you really need to keep an eye on your health and well being, because once you start working shifts it will only get harder, not easier. I was overweight and very unfit. I was into bodybuilding and not running,I only began running 8 weeks since I began running. I got a level 7.7 which is not the best. I understand my flaws now its time to make my flaws my strengths. Edited December 29, 2015 by AHussain
Grumpy2 160
http://www.scotland.police.uk/assets/pdf/recruitment/police-scotland-fitness-standard-guidance?view=Standard Just had a read at that and I think the gender differences are very unfair. Why, in these days of so called equality, does a man under 29 years have to reach level 9.2 or complete a 1.5 mile run in under 12 minutes, whilst a woman only has to reach level 7.3 or complete the 1.5 miles in 14 minutes. And the older you go, the gender difference gets even greater, up to level 5.2 or 18 minutes for women. You could easily WALK a mile and a half in 18 minutes, how can anyone call that a fitness test? Presumably then, if a male and a female officer are running to an incident, the man is expected to get there first and the woman is not expected to keep up? It's utterly ridiculous, surely the timings should be the same for both sexes of equal age with only a small differential being factored in to take account of age. Grumpy2 160
This is interesting: Allcock v the Chief Constable of Hampshire Constabulary [1997] IT/3101524/97. PC Allcock applied to be a dog handler. He passed the fitness test in the time set for women, but not for men (which was quicker) and was denied a job. If he had been a woman he would have been given the job. The Tribunal found that he had been unlawfully directly discriminated against on the ground of his sex.
