Complaints against officers

Hi there,

 

Anyone know the answer to this one?  At the  Assessment Centre, do the interviewers have access to my original application form?

 

I obviously used my finest competence examples on the application form and would really like to use a couple of them again at the AC.  (They really are good examples!)  My concern is that the interviewer will have read these examples already and mark me down as a 'one trick pony'.

 

I do have other examples, but really want to use my best!

 

Any advice gratefully received!

The Interviewers only know your candidate number (given to you at the a/c) that's it.

Would agree with Kiz, I used the same examples as on the application form in 3 cases, the last one I had to think of on the spot since the question meant I would have to re-use an example I already gave... easy mistake to make...

At the Application form filling stage you may have had more than one example that you could have used for each question. If you go to the Assessment Centre prepared with these two examples then you can use your second one if the first has already been used. Best wishes.

I used the same answers in my asessment centre as i did on my original application form and i passed both. I used the app form to lay the ground work and elaborated in the a/c. The app form was a good point of reference and helped me answer the questions as i remembered how they were asked on the sheet rather than just try to remember the whole thing in one !

I thought I'd post this as it may be useful to people.  It's just one way of answering the competency based questions in interview.

 

I'm actually a trained interviewer for the Ministry of Defence, so my plan is to structure my answers in the way I would like to hear answers from people I interview.  I use the STAR structure.

 

First I will describe the Situation, or set the scene if you prefer.

Next, I describe the Task.  What needed to be done to resolve the situation.

Then I will describe my Actions... what I did to achieve the task.

Finally, I describe the Results.  This should be the evidence that proves the competency.

 

I'll let you know how this approach fares at the AC.
