When wishing to reply to an earlier posting, how do you paraphrase the particular comment that you wish to respond to, i.e. when it appears in its own box within the reply box, if that makes sense?

Not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean in a box like this  ^ ? Because if so, click on the quote bitton, top right hand corner of the post you want to reply to.

 

The quote will appear in square brackets in the reply box.

 

Click outside of the quotes and type in your reply. Hope I've understood your question and hope this reply helps.

You can also edit the text between the word

and
to get rid of the stuff you don't wish to refer to.

Makes it easier for the rest of us to get the drift of what you are responding to.
