A man dubbed himself ‘Satan’ and watched child abuse videos on his home computer more than 250 times.

Danny Rowland, 24, from Dorset Road, Newcastle, watched the horrific videos via an on online conferencing facility and asked other offenders:

“who likes torture?”

Rowland admitted making indecent images of children and was jailed today at Newcastle Crown Court for 18 months following an early guilty plea.

He was also given a 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will have to sign to the Sex Offender Register for 10 years.

National Crime Agency investigators raided his home address on the 4th April 2017 and he was arrested and his computers seized.

Forensic examination showed Rowland had watched the horrific videos 256 times.

The pre-recorded footage was streamed through the online video conferencing facility where Rowland’s user names were ‘666’ and ‘Satan’.

NCA investigators proved that while he was watching the child abuse he said he was going to “thank Santa” and commented the videos had “no limits, no taboo”.

Rowland admitted to officers that he had seen indecent images of children but denied having a sexual interest in children.

NCA senior investigating officer Graham Ellis said: “For his own sexual gratification Rowland was watching images of children being abused”

“Behind every image is a child who has been abused, the NCA is wholly committed to tackling this threat”.

“If you are engaging with people online and watching and sharing images of child abuse, you will be identified and brought to justice.”

Child protection charity The Lucy Faithfull Foundation runs the Stop It Now! helpline which offers confidential advice to anyone concerned about their own or someone else’s behaviour towards children.
