A man has been jailed for biting off part of a constable's ear.

Officers were searching an estate in Tulse Hill, south London, after complaints about drug dealing.

Shayhon Francis was stopped by a lone male PC for a routine search in the Roupell Park Estate.

The 23-year-old head-butted the officer and, while the constable was on the ground, bit off part of his ear and stamped on his head before running away.

The missing part of the officer’s ear was found on the floor but could not be re-attached.

Francis, of Denmark Hill, Camberwell, south London, was found guilty of Section 18 GBH and sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
