Management Chief Cheetah 6,902 Posted October 8, 2017 Management Share Posted October 8, 2017 For some odd reason I find myself in possession of an action camera, a bit like a GoPro only it's an Eken. If you knew me you'd laugh at this notion. Anyway It has the facility to take pictures on a timed mode for as long as it has battery power. Today I set it to take a picture every 10 seconds whilst looking out of my home office window. It was attached to an external battery power pack so it worked for a number of hours. I now have a couple of thousand pictures 10 seconds apart. I want some software to make this into a movie but being a skinflint I want some free software. I have only done this once and I don't know if I'll do it again so I don't want to spend cash on anything in case I never do it again. Has anyone got any recommendations and links to any free software to make a movie from my stills? I tried the free version of MS Movie Maker but it won't let me save it without paying for a full version. Thanks
Beaker 817
Assuming windows 10? Does "Movie Moments" from the Store not work for you?
Beaker 817
Mate over the desk from me suggested this :: http://movies.blainesville.com/p/wmm-60-on-windows-7.html It's the installers for the old version of Movie Maker.
Management Chief Cheetah 6,902 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Management Share Posted October 8, 2017 @Beaker Thanks for these. Movie Moments seems to be only a player but I'll download the other at another time and give it a go.
Corpsehand 3
I'd recommend downloading a trial for Adobe Premiere Pro. The full version isn't free, but you can get some good deals (or even just pay a monthly licence fee, which is well worth it for a hobbyist) -- the trial itself is a month so you've got plenty of time to get to grips with it.It's a great piece of software and a good way to approach video editing/production as a beginner. It's very user friendly and won't turn you off straight away, plus there is a huge bank of open source resources to help you learn.Source: work in this area.
Management Chief Cheetah 6,902 Posted October 9, 2017 Author Management Share Posted October 9, 2017 Thanks for the suggestion, I shall keep it in mind. I do have an old copy of Windows Live which used to contain the free version of Windows Movie Maker so with a mates assistance I may try to get that back on my PC. I seriously don't want and have no interest in movie editing I just want to convert these couple of thousand JPG into an MP4. I have done it before with some other free software but that limited the JPG's to just a few hundred. I know Windows Movie Maker will do it easily I just don't want to pay for something I am likely to use no more than once or twice in a year and only for very basic creation (no editing). I ain't no David Bailey or Ridley Scott
Corpsehand 3
No worries. Having reread the OP I think there was probably a better suggestion anyway.A much simpler, but very inefficient option would be to put each individual picture on a PowerPoint slide and then export the full presentation as an MP4, which I'm fairly sure you can do - essentially makes it a slide show. I think you can set timings and stuff when exporting, too.It might explode your computer if there are a good few photos though, but it's at least something you can try for free with pretty much any computer. Corpsehand 3
Ah - just read 'couple of thousand'.Revise 'very' to 'extremely' inefficient!
