At Long Last by H-H - Discussion Thread

So having arrived in Glasgow last night for a festival, I went out on the hunt to find suitable parking spaces in the city. I left looking for a parking space, and came back with a final offer of employment as a Police Officer!

At the moment it hasn't really sunk in, and I doubt it will seem real until I've passed out, but after starting a degree in Policing in September 2013, to applying and being rejected in 2014, it feels like a long long process has finally come to an abrupt end!

Thanks to the many of you on this forum who have offered support and advice throughout the process - I wouldn't recognise any of you walking down the street but your help throughout has got me the job I always wanted and I'm truly grateful to those who are too many to name individually!

Have a good weekend everyone, time to celebrate with Thom Yorke and a pint of warm, watered down lager!!

It's going well thanks mate. SO much to learn and my brain is mentally exhausted at the end of every day, but I think it's going in... first test is 2 weeks so we'll see then!

Finally got my letter of congratulations/ joining instructions. The wait is over, its going to be a long five weeks until my start date!

Just waiting for another email about payroll, training information etc etc, which will no doubt involve some pre-reading.

Pace, pace, and pace.

Hah oh dear. Let me guess: Theft, common assault/ battery, Abh, gbh (s.18) , gbh (s.20), Burglary, robbery, going equipt, affray, violent disorder, riot, d&d and so on.

There are so many you should learn, I never agree with learning the full definitions because you just memory dump it after, learn the points to prove and have a very good working knowledge.

Weren't you a special?

I'm suprised that they didn't get you to read up on pace first, as I've heard my forces training consists of more procedure and practicals rather than law. But there is "self learning" as well.

Thanks! Huge relief, just counting down the days now. It's been a roller coaster, but can't wait to get started. How long do you have?

Nooo I'd be able to do those unfortunately!

The 2 I know are the now and when cautions, rest of them are definition of Constable/arrest and then powers of arrest under pace etc! The only offence in there from memory is going equipped! I understand all of them but if you asked me to fill in the gaps in the definitions I'd be stumped!

Yeah fingers crossed it'll come around quick! I start on the 14th but now have less than 3 weeks before I get to sack off bathrooms
