It's an interesting theory.     Have they detected many drunken rats?:ENVOUTER:

Policing in India has to be seen to be believed.

Well if I lived in a dry state I might consider letting my whiskers grow, admit to being terrified of cats and say Eeek if it would get me a drink

Yes,  i can just see the Newspaper headlines now " Moonshine Galore for local rats".  However I suppose it's just possible they did drink it all, or most of it anyway, provided the rats had a well organised underground moonshine distribution organisation to squirrel it away. It would have to be on a scale like Al Capones though, just to keep things in perspective.

They would need teams of rats pulling mini tankers/wagons  of moonshine along a network of tunnels. They would also need a chain of rat "speakeasy," night clubs to sell it, (just for the well to do rats of course ). However, as long as the rats are paying their taxes on it who cares. . It all does seem a bit improbable though as I'm sure the police would have found out about all this by now via the grapevine and put a stop to it. .  :). Rich.
