Attendance Checks

Recommended Posts

Wilson28

I have recently been successful in joining SYP and I'm currently undergoing the pre-employment checks.

They state they'll look at my attendance over the past three years and allow no more than 33 working days off or no more than 5 absences. However, I have had more than 33 days off with 2 absences. I was off with fractures to my face on the first occasion, and a leg injury on the other. I went to hospital for both.

Will I still be OK with this?

Thanks

Well done on getting through! I don't think you have anything to worry about, as you did have good reason for the absence. I think the police are more concerned with unexplained absences.

Best bet is to speak to SYP recruitment team if in doubt on Monday, and they can put you at ease.

The guidance they give you is probably general rule of thumb stuff. If you've got doctors notes and reasonable explanations, then hopefully they will be reasonable!

As per the other posters comments, I really wouldn't be concerned. As long as you can cover where you were for the times that you were absent which you've already given a strong reason for then I can't see why they won't accept you.

Best of luck with the remainder of the application.

Thanks for the advice. They've not queried it so far!
