  1. Officers were reportedly attending a stag party in the capital Vilnius and are now under invesigation over the incident The Lithuanian capital, Vilnius. Photograph: Alamy Seven police officers have been arrested while on holiday in Lithuania following a brawl. Scotland Yard said the Metropolitan police officers were detained in Vilnius, the countrys capital, and are under investigation. The Sun reported that the men were in Lithuania for a stag party, and the newspaper published pictures appearing to show them bloodied and stumbling as they were handcuffed and put in to police cars in the

    A cautionary tale

I'll start by saying I'm not looking for advice, this is my story of how I was forced out of the police over something I eye as rather silly, and something I know people do all the time. Be aware, the federation seem like they aren't always as much help as they should be. Let's go back a few months, I've moved a long way from friends and family to pursue the career of my dreams. I'm 6 months into my probation with a police force. After serving 8 years as a special in my local force I had a fair idea what to expect, however this force at the other end of the world did seem to do a lot differen

    Gay Officers

Just wondering if there are any openly gay specials in the force? How do you feel about being a gay officer? Dose it impact on your work or are you treated differently by colleagues/public? Thanks!

    Paramedic

Can I be a paramedic and Police Special? I heard something about conflict of interest. Is anyone a Paramedic and Special and whats it like? Appreciate any responses. :new_thanks:
  6. I have just received a text from a friend who is also applying to the MSC telling me that he received an email informing him that specials recruitment has been temporarily suspended as they are focusing on regular recruitment. Has anyone else received a similar email and can anyone shed any light on this as I'm unable to access my email right now! Edit I've just managed to access my emails and found this in my inbox Really hope this doesn't last too long!
  7. Following my posting of a topic in News here yesterday concerning an e-petition there appears to be some doubters as to whether e-petitions are ever successful. Well the answer is yes, absolutely. The success of an e-petition can be measured in two ways, firstly by securing 100,000 signatures to prompt a Government debate, and secondly by achieving the aim of the petition. I know of several successful e-petitions and I'll share one of them now, a recent true story that did achieve it's aim: https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/pm-david-cameron-david-cameron-keep-your-promise-to-our-milita
  8. A change in finance policy has occurred, that's fine it happens, there is now a flat rate for subsistence payout if you work 5-10 hours (leaving your front door to walking back in it). It would be inappropriate to discuss exact numbers here but imagine my surprise when this months expense sheet shows that I shall get the same for a 14 hour shift as a 5 hour shift, when we used to get some money for working over 5 hours and more for working over 10. Needless to say, feeling a little hard done by. Rant over.
