  1. Hi, Just want to make sure I'm getting this right, traffic has never been my strong point so here goes. I stop a person under the road traffic act, I'm in full uniform. I asked them to confirm their name, address and date of birth. The car is insured and registered keeper is insured, not known to PNC etc so vehicle checks and custody imaging etc don't help me. They've committed no moving traffic offences. The driver flat out refuses to give their details, I dont know who they are and have the grounds to arrest. What power do I say they are under arrest for for failing to provid
  2. Afternoon all, As per the thread title really, are there any offences committed when a motorcyclist gets their knee down while cornering or going around a roundabout. I'm thinking possibly due care, but really not too sure.
  3. On another note looks like were moving on from FPNs at the end of the month. wonder if we'll be getting any different process books / TORs I've split this from chat as it's a topic in itself.
  4. The age old dilemma. This is two scenarios rolled into one, and I'm interested in both your actions as a common sense toting officer, and your actions from a legal standpoint. 1. You come across a male in a car, parked on a sidestreet. The engine is off, and he is asleep in the vehicle. You knock on the window and he wakes up. When the male rolls down the window, there is a clear smell of stale 'intoxicating liquor'. You ask if the man has been drinking, He says he has been at the pub over the road, and having had a few too many and not feeling good to drive, he has decided to sleep in his
  5. I work as Fleet Compliance Manager for a haulage company, six weeks ago one of our drivers was stopped by Staffordshire Police in Shropshire for not wearing a seat belt in a HGV. There has been no further communication regarding this from the Police, is there a time scale for a prosecution to be issued or could this incident have been a severe slap on the wrist? I have issued the driver with a disciplnary warning letter for non compliance as per company procedure. Regards Mike Collins
