  1. Dismissed: Police sergeant Richard Evans, 46, was sacked after having sex with a woman suspect in the cells   A police officer has been sacked for having sex in his station's cells. Sergeant Richard Evans, 46, was dismissed for "disgraceful" sexual behaviour towards women in custody - and against his own colleagues in the police force.   Evans had denied having sex with women suspects and fondling their breasts, and he was cleared of sexual assault and misconduct in a public office following a crown court trial last year.   However, a subsequent misconduct hearing, following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission, found him guilty of 41 allegations and dismissed him for gross misconduct.   The officer, who had 25 years' service, was accused of kissing one woman in a police van before later having sex with her in the 'sluice room' at the police station.   One woman held in custody told how she was "flattered" and boasted to her daughter: "You're not going to believe it, but I sh*gged a policeman". A second woman alleged he kissed and fondled her after she was arrested and taken to Ystrad Mynach police station near Caerphilly, South Wales.   A third woman said that while she was getting dressed, Evans pulled a blanket off of her so he could see her breasts. He denied all charges and a jury at Cardiff crown court found him not guilty of two counts of misconduct in public office and three counts of sexual assault following a trial last year.   But Evans, of New Inn, near Pontypool, South Wales, faced a subsequent internal misconduct hearing by senior officers at Gwent Police , who upheld 41 complaints against him involving inappropriate sexual behaviour towards female detainees and colleagues. Deputy Chief Constable Craig Guildford said: "Richard Evans' attitude and behaviour was disgraceful, he abused his authority when dealing with female colleagues and female detainees.   "He failed to treat them with courtesy and respect, and failed to have regard to the equality and diversity duty in the workplace. "His immediate dismissal was the only appropriate course of action.   IPCC commissioner Jan Williams said: "Sergeant Evans displayed wholly inappropriate behaviour towards both vulnerable female detainees while in custody, and to female colleagues, and I am pleased he is no longer able to abuse the position of trust he held. "The dismissal should send a message to any police officer that the sort of behaviour shown by this sergeant is utterly unacceptable, and bring confidence to colleagues who witness anything like it to report their concerns."   http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/police-sergeant-who-sex-female-5413772

    Gross Misconduct - Help

Can anyone help me out. I am a special and also was a call taker in the FCR working for g4s alongside lincolnshire police. G4S has sacked me over gross misconduct for misusing police computer systems. Long story but I am appealing the decision. I am applying for the regs but I fear with this gross misconduct charge over my head it is pointless as when it comes to the employment check they will bin me off. My question is what will they ask in terms of a reference from my previous employer? Thanks to all those who respond in advance.
  3. Three police officers have been served with gross misconduct notices after a seven-year-old girl was injured when a police gun was accidentally fired in front of a group of children. The girl suffered minor facial injuries when the firearm was discharged by an officer during a demonstration at Nottinghamshire police headquarters in November. She was hit in the face by an empty cartridge but did not need hospital treatment. The group of children and parents were being shown specialist police services including firearms and dogs at Sherwood Lodge, near Hucknall, after they won a local prize, The incident prompted an urgent inquiry by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which on Tuesday said it had served gross misconduct notices to two firearms officers and a police dog handler as part of the ongoing investigation. The watchdog also said it was examining Nottinghamshire police’s response to the incident and whether officers attempted a coverup. IPCC commissioner Derrick Campbell said: “I am extremely concerned about the discharge of a police gun at an event attended by members of the public. “The public must have confidence that police officers who carry guns do so with highest standards of care and professionalism – and that the policies and procedures that govern their work are rigorously adhered to at all times.” One of the strands of the IPCC inquiry is why live firearms were present and used as part of the open day for adults and children at the Nottinghamshire police headquarters. The watchdog is also investigating whether force and national policies and protocols were breached by the presence of live firearms at the demonstration and whether their use was authorised. Investigators have obtained CCTV footage of the incident and made contact with the injured girl’s family, the IPCC said. The three officers are to be interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. The watchdog will also examine previous firearms incidents at Nottinghamshire police within the past six months where negligence may have been reported. View the full article

About us

Police Community was originally founded in 2014 by two serving Police Officers.

In 2016 it was incorporated as a limited company called RAW Digital Media Limited and then purchased 3 other forums; Police Specials, UK Police Online and Police UK to form the largest policing discussion forum network in the UK. In 2019 the decision was taken to merge all four forums into this main form of www.police.community
