  1. Is anything more comical than the England football team? Rubbish team tournament after tournament, scandals galore and now we get this, surely his positon is untenable now? Criticising his employer and advising people how to bend the rules, what a disgrace. Sam Allardyce what was he thinking?

  3. Passed interview and PIR test in January, recently been to have fingerprints and DNA taken and undergoing vetting at the moment, anyone else who is in the same situation as me or any advice on what happens next? Cheers
  4. I assume that the Lancashire officers are familiar with the case of Andrew Blades, one of your officers who has lost his job following a manoeuvre with a vehicle that resulted in a minor damage only collision according to news reports. If not, see here:- https://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php/topic/150876-mp-slams-scandal-of-special-convicted-of-dangerous-driving/#entry2683796 I see the media is reporting that his case is being raised at various levels of government, including with the Director of Public Prosecutions. My question is, do you know of anything being done to help him and
  5. Apologies if this has been posted, I had a search and couldn't find it on here. Also its not a questionnaire/or survey so posted it here. A UK Parliament petition has been set up by a retired police officer. Lets hope it gets to 10,000 or 100,000 + signatures Police officers who suffer assaults often receive significant injuries, physical and / or psychological, sometimes having long lasting effects. Recent sentences for such assaults give serious cause for concern that little, if any, regard is taken in determining appropriate sentencing of offenders. More details This petition cal

    Powers on international trains

Those of you who know me a bit better will know that I frequently take a train from London to Aberdeen, and back again. I am a MSC in London, with a warrant covering England & Wales, with terrorism powers that extend into Scotland. The last stop for the train in England is Berwick-upon-Tweed, and the first in Scotland is Edinburgh Waverley. My question is this: The second my train passes the sign that says "Welcome to Scotland", do my powers disappear? Or is it when the train doors open at Edinburgh? There was a discussion on the other place regarding international flights, and I'
  8. Hi all, I'm new on here. I have submitted my SC application and the closing date is tomorrow. Does anyone know how long you normally have to wait to hear whether or not you're successful? Cheers guys :new_yummy:
  9. Is anyone watching the documentary about Sheffield,it's a 3-part series. This episode seems to concentrate on Anti Social Behaviour in 2 parts of the city, the difficulty of policing both problems area's with limited resources and legislation and an uprising from residents against the police. It's all very interesting and I hope it shows the people the difficulties we face.

    Gay Officers

Just wondering if there are any openly gay specials in the force? How do you feel about being a gay officer? Dose it impact on your work or are you treated differently by colleagues/public? Thanks!

    Interview tomorrow. Advise please?

Hello everyone. I've visited this site a few times due to my interest in the police force. I'm now awaiting my interview tomorrow and I'm worrying. I know I shouldn't be, I'd just like to have a few tips/ a bit of advise on what to expect on the day. It is with the West Yorkshire police based in Wakefield. The main things I'm worrying about is the competency questions - Service Delivery, Working with others, Professionalism and openness to change. I've read the booklet I received over email and understand the descriptions of the competencies but can anyone advise me on how to answer in a st
  15. Hi all, This is my first post, so I hope it's ok, and that I've put it in the right place etc! Right here goes... Ahead of making an application as a Special Constable, I'd like to do some reading into the basics of the law, and the procedures of the Police to make sure my knowledge can match or surpass my enthusiasm, as well as making sure that I am as best prepared for the initial, and any following interviews as I can be. In addition to that, if or when I pass through the recruitment process, I should imagine that having as much knowledge as possible will set me in good stead to be as goo
  16. Has anyone else applied to West Yorkshire Police Specials on their most recent intake (Dec 2012), if so has anyone heard anything back?! How long is it likely to take? How do you actually 'pass' the paper sift? Thanks and good luck!

    Beat uniform

Hello, I just wanted to ask what is full beat uniform? Is it the normal Constable's uniform? Does that include the Tunic? Thank you.
  18. Just thought i'd start a topic to gather a viewpoint of NHS Security Guards at hospitals. Whilst this isn't intended to be a "lets bash security guards" topic i'd be interested to hear your views really. I'm not sure if it's the same everywhere but certainly where I am based I generally visit 3 main hospitals for the usual jobs, S.136, RTCs, Assaults etc and I have noticed that back when we used to wear white shirts and black trousers so did the security guards. When we changed to black t-shirts and black combat pants...so did they! I really think this was a deliberate decision made by thei

Hi all, I work for West Yorkshire Police currently as a SC, however I don't get issued with a BB (some SC's do get issued them (of the same rank as me) but i don't) I was just wondering if you can use your own BB and get force email set up on that because i'm only at my station to check emails twice a month or so! If not can you request one? I don't want access to anything more than me email, but i have no idea if you can get this set up on your own BB or whatever. Thanks in advance, Hannah x
  20. Hey guys and girls, Long time since I've been here.. I trust you are all well! :new_shades: I saw these videos and it made me think of you guys! 24. Has anyone got a slightest clue on where to get information in relation to this exam? I was told that officers who would like to transfer from a Scottish police force to E&W has to pass this exam as part of the transfer process.
