Hi all, Quite a niche question here but maybe someone somewhere will know. I resigned from Police over 2 years ago (something I posted about on here before) due to disillusionment with the job. After after fun but but term work I have now been offered an investigator role with a government agency (not NCA). I have go through SC goverbment vetting clearence. During my time in police I was never served papers, no criminal investigations and not even points on licence. Squeaky clean. My question is, will they just want HR record or will they contact psd for full file? In theory I have nothing to worry about however I know through data subject request I have complaints, management action and even Intel on my psd record. All ridiculous stuff,a lot of it I'm angry its even recorded but that's a subject for another day. This stuff cropped up when I tried to rejoin, it eventually got sorted but served as reminder why I left so decided not to take up offer of rejoining. I just feel the way police record these things makes you feel like a criminal (e.g complaints dealt with my community resolution when in reality they should have been binned). End of the day I know it is what it is and all you can do is be honest and see but I'd still rather know process just so I know what to expect and to anticipate any delays. After all it's my data so would rather know who can sse it.

Hi everyone, Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place but I'm a newbie to the forum. I'd be grateful if anyone could offer me some guidance on a vetting matter. In 2015, I was suffering a mental health crisis. My father had just had a suicide attempt and I felt suicidal myself. I was in bits for lack of a better word. Stupidly, I decided at the time it was wise to steal a trolley of shopping from Asda. I had no money due to being on benefits because of my mental health and I was essentially desperate to feed myself, not thinking clearly or wisely. I was caught and received a Community Resolution Order. I haven't had any dealings with the police since then and my criminal record is clear apart from said incident. As its a dishonesty offence, would this preclude me from joining and passing vetting or could mitigating circumstances be considered? Thanks, Trippy

Thousands of police officers and staff 'not properly vetted'

Thousands of police officers and civilian staff have never undergone stricter criminal record and background checks, despite the fact that they were introduced in 2006, the BBC has found. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47073883 -
hi there Anyone knows what the vetting process requires? I mean what they check except criminal records, I am wondering if we are allowed to be on a dating website.

Hi, If you're applying for the police should you have social media accounts? I have heard its best to close them down but unsure if this is true? Thanks

When an officer moves in with a new partner...
anonymouse * posted a topic in General Policing Discussions
Hi. My question is aimed specifically at officers and specials that are in the force already. When you begin a relationship with someone and then move in with them, I understand there would need to be some vetting done on the new partner (and family) at some point. I am that new partner and I was arrested about 10 years ago, questioned and then that was the end of it. Due to the nature of the accusation made against me, I don't like to tell people about it for fear of being judged anyway and subsequently my partner currently does not know. How and when you decide to tell your partner this, I don't know but my question is about the new partner vetting procedure. I absolutely want to be honest during this process and don't think it will affect her job (hope to god that it doesn't and if so then i'll do the honourable thing) but does my partner ever have to see the form that I fill out or is it done with discretion? I hope this has been posted in the right place. -
So for any Officer role you are re-vetted every X amount of years. In my Force it is every 5 years. Question is, what happens if you fail? Specifically, for the case where it isn't your fault e.g. family members. Surely it's unfair to be blamed for someone else's actions.
