Equipment / Clothing Links

Here are a number of links to the most popular items that our members ask advice about. If you would like something adding to the list please either DM me or one of the Team members for your link to be added. What I would say is none of the links posted are endorsed by us here at Police Community (other than our sponsors Police Supplies). We are neither responsible for any purchases you make and you must check with your local force before purchasing any item to obtain permission to wear it on duty. If you aren't officially issued with it, you may find you aren't allowed to wear it as it would be non standard for your role. KEELA https://ilasco.co.uk/…

If you could re-design or design a new police uniform for use in the UK, what would you choose? What equipment and clothing would you have and why? Weapons, colour etc. (budget is unlimited!)

Best sepura earpiece for clarity

Hi I'm looking to see if there are better quality earpieces available which would give much better clarity of sound. Just like high-end headphones - the sound is more better and less tinny... I know it would be hard as it is such a small speaker component but seeing what's out there.

by ChristopherM- 3 replies

Does anyone have one of these? I looking to get one for hiking as I currently carry a lot on my hips. I was thinking of putting a torch where the baton goes, my phone where the radio goes, and a small water bottle where the CS spray goes.

Looking at getting some gloves that I can wear whilst out on patrol, so they will keep me warm, but also good to wear if searching someone instead of putting on disposable gloves Any suggestions?

Boots

I'm sure this question has been asked before. I'm due to start with btp in January and have been told that I need to buy my own boots. I'm looking for recommendations on what people have brought. I have looked at altberg p1. Along with the newer style blueline boots. Unfortunately no where has them in stock to try on. I manage to try on a pair of magnum viper Pro in millets which I have heard mixed reviews about on how long they last. The cost varies amongst boots. Which I don't mind. Just looking to get a pair that will last me for years

Does anyone have any suggestions as to smart, black (uniform-style) shoes that are half-smart, half-practical for standing, driving, patrolling, etc for long periods on your feet? I'm looking at some online in Clarks, but they're up at a about £70. Thanks.

I'm looking for a new pair of boots for civilian normal people type use. Full leather, half zip, ankle style. The sort of every day boot I can use to the shops, down the pub or walking in light countryside. Sort of the casual side of smart casual. Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated

Plain Clothes Operations

Hi! I've recently started doing some plain clothes work out on response however we aren't issued covert body armour due it being an occasional thing. Any suggestions on what is the best clothing to wear to keep it as covert as possible? Stab vests aren't exactly slimming and look very obvious, especially for people of small and slim builds like myself. Thanks!

Does anyone carry a kit bag? 1 2 3 4

I know this will probably vary depending on what kind of team you're on/role etc. When I was on response I used to carry a kit bag that could fit my hat/coat etc., along with various bits of paperwork. Being cheap, I just used a £15 holdhall from JJB, which kind of worked. Unfortunately, as it was just a holdall, paperwork and things did get tatty and now the whole bag has pretty much fallen apart after 2 years of being thrown around, so I'm looking for a replacement. What do people use as a kit bag? I know people use things of niton999 and patrol store, but from looking at some colleague's they seem to be quite huge, and looking at those websites, a bit pricey…
