by SimonT +- 2 replies

I'm looking at doing my NIE in a bit and I'm wondering if anyone recommends any revision books. My force will provide me with Blackstone's but I find them to be very hard going and previously had good success with a crammer course. Any good providers for this exam?

Folks Just out of interest who on here has completed their initial Standard Response Course with their respective force? How did you find it? What was the duration of the course? Did you struggle with any elements of it? Was it modular based and if so in what way was it delivered? I am interested to hear your thoughts on the course and how it has gone, whether you passed the course or failed the course, your experiences would be interesting to hear either way - Thanks 😀 https://www.app.college.police.uk/app-content/road-policing-2/police-driving/

Evening all, Just wondering if anyone has any direct experience of working for NPAS specifically as a tactical flight officer, I'm trying to view or understand the medical standards required? I figured I'd ask here before going to my own HR team to ask. Thanks in advance.

Where to live

HI there I'm about to sign up and was wondering about which borough to request. I know that previously officers were advised to work in a borough different to the one the were working in but I've head that it's no longer the case. Advice? How dangerous is it to live in the borough you work in? Will my car get trashed? Do crims ever really target officer's homes? If you could enlighten me I'd be very grateful. Apols if this ends up in the wrong place I'm new to the forum. Oh and another thing, I'm 49 in a couple of months- too old to start out? ( I don't feel old)

Hi guys! I have currently been offered a conditional place for WYP. I have my fitness test and medical next week. Submitted all my vetting forms so fingers crossed should be joining by the end of the year 🤞 During the 15 weeks training, do you get given any books or do they recommend any books to buy? Looking to buy these now whilst I play the waiting game for vetting. Thank you for the suggestions in advance 😊

Help with assessment centre
by Shadyrockstar91 *- 1 follower

I have been invited to the assessment centre for the role of MSC and the pack I received informs me that all parts of the assessment will be completed on the same day providing you pass part 1 which is written and structured interview. It goes on to say we will get our results on the same day. I am worried about the fitness test, I have done some running in the past and I'm aware that 5.4 is not hard to achieve, although I mainly cycle everyday so will that help me to complete the test? Whenever I run, I seem to get out of breath even though I'm generally fit and healthy. Any advice would be appreciated.

Pre-employment learning?
by LittleRed *- 1 reply
- 1.7k views
Hi all, I'm wondering if you can shed a bit of light on this. Some of the new recruits alongside me have had to do pre-employment learning before starting the IPLDP. However, a few of the others have bypassed this and just waited until the actual start date. Does anyone know the reason why some didn't have to do the pre-employment learning before induction? Thanks in advance!

Public order

I am told that if I am successful onto the police graduate scheme, I can specialise after 2 years. I think I'd really enjoy going into public order. If I specialise in this, would I spend most days as a normal officer in my borough on a weekday, and then when public demonstrations arise I just get drafted in to help? Or would I be doing public order all day every day moving around the country? Also I'm curious - how are graduates viewed within the force? From social media and forums I can sense a lot of resentment to the met's new aim of bringing in more graduates and drafting them into higher positions.
