Training Schedule
by rosco +- 0 replies

To give you some idea of the training involved, here is an approximate schedule for Special intakes as of May 2013. Note that training occurs usually on Wednesday evenings for the theoretical, and Satudays for the practical sessions in general. In reality, this may take a bit longer as courses are not held over some weeks, such as Christmas, Easter and periods of holiday absence. Failure to make any of the sessions will mean you'll have to do them at a later time, and may risk that you have to fall back to the next intake, so it's worthwhile trying all you can to do to attend, given the obvious investment being made in new recruits by the force! Week 1 Wednesday (3 h…

Recruitment Process in Wiltshire
by rosco +- 0 replies
- 7.2k views
Hi, for those interested in joining Wiltshire Police as a Special, the following is the process that you need to follow: Initial Contact Consult the Wiltshire Police Website for Special Constable Recruitment, http://www.wiltshire...cial-constable. Application Pack Request an application pack, fill it in and submit (note that the majority of applicants are rejected at this stage, so it is worthwhile spending a significant effort at this stage to get it right). You are highly recommended to make a photocopy of what you submit for your own future reference! PIRT If you pass this paper-sift stage, you will be invited to sit the PIRT. This is the standard nation…

It's a pretty quiet area in general, but I and some of the other local contributors regularly check it and we normally respond fairly quickly to any questions etc. posted here. Please do introduce yourself in the pinned Icebreaker thread if you are interested in Wiltshire and its Policing.

does Wiltshire do a Specials Fitness test?
by aliw135- 8 replies

I was wondering whether Wiltshire Police do a fitness test for Specials? I thought all forces did one, but it says nothing on their website or any other website. On my first letter from them it says 'fitness/medical' will need to be taken. Is that the fitness test? and Does it include all the usual stuff: bleep, push, pull, grip?

Police Officer Rachel Webb

Police Officer Rachel Webb of the Wiltshire police force is a credit to the police service. It take guts to be a whistle-blower. Her brave action has, I am sure, gone some way to neutralise the damage to police reputations that the brutish criminal action of Sergeant Mark Andrews has done. Listen to me ladies and gentlemen of the police service if you want the support of every sector of the public – be like her.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-11664470 The unit in charge of speed cameras and speed awareness courses in Wiltshire and Swindon has closed, with the loss of 40 jobs. The safety camera partnership shut on Friday due to a cut in funding. Some 65,000 drivers have been on speed awareness courses since 2006 in Swindon, Salisbury and Trowbridge. Swindon's council, a member of the partnership, was the first English local authority to abandon fixed speed cameras one year ago. The partnership was made up of Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council. Wiltshire Police said it would continue to enforce speed limits after the cameras were …

Hi I was just wondering when and why are people cuffed in certain handcuffing positions? Also why do some officers cuff the person and hold on to the black plastic part of the cuffs while the suspect walks into the police car/van? Also, does Blonde Rachael still work for Salisbury? She has come on nightwatch and itv 4 on the program "The Force". I find her very attractive lol

Interview tips
by HKF- 11 replies

I was just browsing other forums and saw this reply from Vulcan (Wiltshire) on top tips for the interview process. I think it was advice to a candidate in the north west who hadn't got through the most recent application process, but it looks like it could apply to any force. http://www.policespe...81#entry2170581 I think I'm right in saying he's one of the most experienced interviewing officers in the force (according to the HR person I spoke to last year) so should know what this force is looking for. I'm assuming the other interviewers are looking for something similar - so if you're about to go to interview it might be worth reading...

Whilst driving to my uniform fitting this morning (approx 9:45) I was passed by a motorcade of 3 police motorbikes, a patrol car, then 2 BMW/Audi types, another patrol car and finally a last motorbike. The bikes all had blue lights flashing. Any idea who this was or could have been?
