hi all, had a from HR last week, during my vetting it was discovered that i have an outstanding CCJ, i had no idea about this, however on further investigation apparently the CCJ was served in january 2006 at Northampton, this is a bulk centre where most CCJ's are served. anyhow, after doing some digging around i have now found out that the original debt was sopld on to a management company for which i have been paying off for the past 3 years and only have £500 big ones to clear, iv spoken to HR and they have advisd me that my application can be put on hold for approx 3 months, this they say should help pay the debt off. so the bike been sold and a wage advance applied f…

Appleby Fair 2011

Big thanks to all Specials who have worked at Appleby Fair this year. Over 500 hours were volunteered for a range of duties and shifts. This is a major event for Cumbria and is reliant on the specials for providing extra and vital resource. Also, many thanks to those Specials who worked in local areas. Your contribution is also valued because local teams are stretched when officers are on duty at the Fair. From the press reports, the Fair appears to have gone well this year with a reduction in arrests. Thanks everyone S/Ch Insp - North BCU

Hi All, I am about to start a contract in Barrow and will have to find temp digs in the area. I live in Berkshire, and don't know the area at all! Please can you give me an idea of which areas I should avoid, and which ones are safe? I noticed that the majority of property is terraced, so are there problems with on street parking, TFMV etc? Thanks All

A brand new BBC3 documentary series is looking for serving and retired police officers to tell us about the funniest and strangest things that have happened to them during their career. If you are interested in taking part, please contact us so that we can tell you a bit more about the show. We’d also love to hear your stories. Our programme will provide an insight into best practices, celebrate the achievements of the police and convey a strong central message: Crime doesn’t pay and …

Biggest Issues Facing Officers In Cumbria?

I'm looking for opinions from currently serving (or ex-serving) officers on what the biggest issues facing the county are. Cumbria is a diverse (and huge) area in terms of population and types of crime and there was recently a bit of backlash to the way police handled things during Uppies and Downies this year (I sympathise with the service, you poor buggers can't do anything right it seems). Looking forward to responses!!!

I just got an email confirming my place at the opening evening, apparently there's a waiting list in place now. Is there anyone else going to this on Thursday? I applied for the last opening for this position and failed at the final interview last month :new_doh2: So hopefully I'll be able to find out where I went wrong for this time.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-11956823 Community police officers in a south Cumbria town now have their own base. The Neighbourhood Policing Team that covers Barrow Island and the central areas of the town has moved to a "one stop shop" on Dalton Road. It brings the team of twelve under the same roof as neighbourhood wardens, the local crime and disorder reduction partnership and Furness Enterprise. The move aims to give officers a more visible presence in the town, and share information more effectively. The office will be open to members of the public who want help or advice on community issues. However, the police station on Market Street will rem…
