Wiltshire Police formerly known as Wiltshire Constabulary formed on 13 November 1839.
As the first of the County Forces to be created by virtue of the 1839 County Police Act, we have a long and varied history.
Wiltshire Police operates across an area of 3,485 km2 (1,346 square miles). The county has two unitary authority areas, Wiltshire and Swindon, consisting of 18 community areas and seven localities.
Our purpose ‘is to prevent crime and protect the public.’
Our Mission: ‘to provide our communities with the best possible service and protect them from harm.’
